A breakfast for scholarship recipients will be held from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at the Bally’s Hotel and Casino. Scholarship winners will have a chance to meet one another and RBMS and ACRL leadership. This event is by invitation only.
Restaurant Night
Restaurant Night is a preconference tradition. Small groups of conference participants can get to know one another while visiting some of Las Vegas’ best restaurants. Everyone will be responsible for the cost of his or her own meal, and there will be several restaurants with a range of prices to choose from. Sign-up sheets will be available at the Registration desk onsite on a first-come, first-served basis until Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
Our evening reception will be held at the beautiful Nevada State Museum situated in the Las Vegas Springs Preserve just west of the Las Vegas Strip on Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Bus transportation will be provided. Attendees will enjoy an expansive view of the Strip skyline in the distance, as well as overlooking the natural landscape of the Springs Preserve. The museum’s permanent gallery features exhibits on both the natural history of the Las Vegas area and the history of Nevada and its inhabitants. In addition to illustrating the history of mining, ranching, and railroads, other exhibits showcase the growth of Las Vegas into the resort capital of the world. Where else can you see a mammoth skeleton AND a giant pink-sequined showgirl costume wall? The museum will also be celebrating the 150th anniversary of Nevada in statehood 2014 by featuring an exhibit on the history of communication in Nevada in its rotating gallery.
